Wyndham Inn on the Harbor

A Wyndham Inn on the Harbor timeshare is ideal for those who want to be directly on the water but aren't looking for a crowded beach vacation and would like to be in an area that has four distinct seasons. The property is situated on Newport Harbor in Rhode Island, one of the premier sailing areas in the United States. In addition to being popular with recreational boaters, the harbor is a major commercial fishing center, so excellent fresh seafood is always available.

Wyndham Property Amenities

Free high-speed wireless internet, a game room, a social lounge, a rooftop sundeck and a laundry room are available to everyone staying or residing at the property. The front desk is staffed 24 hours to assist with any needs, and there is also a separate tour desk open during the day to help visitors plan out their activities.

Free parking is available for one vehicle per unit. In addition, each unit gets one complimentary pass to the nearby YMCA. The guest pass grants the holder full use of the YMCA facilities seven days a week, though hours are a bit more limited during the summer months.

Room Types

All of the Wyndham Inn on the Harbor timeshare units are in a one-bedroom configuration, but there are Standard and Deluxe models.

The Standard units can range from 480 to 600 square feet in size. These units come with a living room, one bathroom and a small kitchen area that is separated from the living room. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed and there is also a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The kitchen comes equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, dishwasher, toaster and coffee maker and is also furnished with flatware.

Deluxe units are all 600 square feet in size. They feature everything that the Standard unit has but have nicer views of the city.

About Newport

Aside from the harbor, Newport is perhaps best known for having preserved the most colonial architecture in the country. First-time visitors can get an overview of all the locations available for viewing at the Newport Historical Society.

Other major attractions in the city include the International Tennis Hall Of Fame, Fort Adams State Park, Brenton Point State Park, the National Museum of American Illustration and the lighthouses at Castle Hill and Rose Island. In the warm months, there are many public and private beaches available for use on Aquidneck Island.

Two of the primary dining and shopping areas are Bowen's Wharf and Thames Street. Bowen's Wharf has a wide range of restaurants that allow you to eat right on the water with great views of all the boats coming and going. Thames Street is more centered on shopping with lots of local stores, but there are also a number of nice restaurants and bars there as well.

The America's Cup sailing competition has often been held in Newport, as well as many major professional golf championships at the Newport Country Club. Some major annual events in the area include the International Tennis Hall Of Fame Champions Cup, the Newport Jazz Festival, the Newport Folk Festival, the Sunset Music Festival, the Newport International Film Festival and the Newport International Boat Show.

Many interesting locations are within a very short drive or boat ride of Newport, such as Providence, Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. In neighboring Connecticut, Mystic is a popular visitor's destination that is not far away. Boston is an hour and a half away by car or a little under three hours by bus.
